In the early 1990s, the most profitable game in the world wasn’t called Mario or Sonic, it was Street Fighter II. And yet, this game was born from a chain of accidents: a series of unbelievable coincidences, burned-out developers, bugs that somehow made it into the final build, a component shortage that reshuffled everything, and a creator who stumbled into the video game industry purely by chance while trying to become a journalist. All of this happened at a time when arcades were dying. This is the story of Street Fighter II, a game with a near-miraculous development that would go on to conquer the world and change the history of video games forever.
