This recording comes from a field expedition our team made to Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela, back in 2020. We spent several nights in the area documenting the sounds of the region's famous thunderstorms, waiting through changing weather and long stretches of rain to capture the atmosphere as naturally as possible. What you'll hear is a mix of rolling thunder, steady rainfall, and the ambient sounds that surrounded us during those sessions. Lake Maracaibo is known for its frequent lightning activity, and experiencing these storms firsthand was something we'll never forget.
