You've Done Enough for This Year : Japanese Zen Music - Autumn Temple Gate | Shakuhachi & Koto
You've done enough for this year. 🍁
The old thatched gate of a mountain temple in Japan, on a quiet late-autumn morning.
Red maples spread overhead, glowing in the soft sunlight, and the stone steps are covered in fallen leaves.
A bamboo broom leans by the gate — whoever was sweeping has stopped, because the leaves will keep falling anyway.
A wandering ronin kneels on the stones, back straight, face lifted gently, eyes closed.
A single red leaf rests in his open palm. His hat and sword lie beside him among the leaves.
This piece is inspired by "CHIRIMOMIJI" (散り紅葉) — the red maple leaves that fall in late autumn.
All season long, the maples gave everything they had: every shade of red and gold.
Now the leaves come down, one by one, and rest on the ground.
Nothing is lost. Their work is simply done.
Maybe this year asked a lot of you.
You kept going, kept carrying, kept giving your color to everything around you.
The year isn't over yet, but you don't have to prove anything more.
For a little while, you can set it down — you've done enough.
Shakuhachi breathes low and soft, like cool morning air passing through the temple gate.
Koto falls in slow, gentle notes, like maple leaves landing one by one on the stone steps.
