Stop Buying Pan Cleaners! Try This 2-Ingredient Paste
Before you replace a burnt pan or buy another specialty cleaner, see how baking soda and dish soap are used to tackle baked-on grease on the outside of an old aluminum pot.
This video covers the hot-water preparation, a simple cleaning paste, and a wooden-skewer trick for the awkward grease around the handles.
THE PASTE RECIPE
• 2 level tablespoons baking soda
• 1 level tablespoon ordinary liquid dish soap
• A little cold water, added a teaspoon at a time
Mix into a thick, spreadable paste. Start with less water and adjust gradually.
COOKWARE CARE
This demonstration focuses on uncoated aluminum exteriors. Follow your cookware manufacturer’s instructions and test a small, hidden area first. Abrasive pastes and scouring pads can scratch. Do not apply this method to nonstick or coated surfaces. Let hot cookware cool before handling and cleaning.
