Most Powerful Gun From Every Era Explained

The most powerful gun from every era, explained: in June 1874, at Adobe Walls in Texas, buffalo hunter Billy Dixon fired a heavy Sharps rifle at a rider on a ridge almost a mile away, and hit. So which gun was really the most powerful of its time? This animated history goes era by era through the most powerful guns everybody knows: the Sharps buffalo rifle; the .600 Nitro Express elephant rifle; the German Tankgewehr, the first anti-tank rifle; the Soviet PTRD-41 at Stalingrad; the .44 Magnum of Dirty Harry; the GAU-8 Avenger of the A-10 Warthog; Ronnie Barrett's garage-built M82; the record shot of the McMillan TAC-50; the Desert Eagle; the Smith & Wesson Model 500; and the final verdict. 0:00 Almost a mile away 0:36 1874: the Sharps rifle 1:43 1903: the elephant rifle 3:00 1918: the tank rifle 4:23 1941: the PTRD-41 5:19 1971: the .44 Magnum 6:41 1977: the GAU-8 Avenger 8:20 1982: the Barrett M82 11:54 2017: the TAC-50 record 13:12 1983: the Desert Eagle 15:28 2003: the S&W Model 500 17:41 The final verdict How this video was made: the script was researched from military histories, museum collections, manufacturer records and official reports, cross-checked between sources, then written and narrated for this channel. Where sources disagree (the exact distance of Billy Dixon's shot, the A-10's record in the Gulf War, the long range sniper records) we say so in the video. This is a history video, not a guide: nothing here explains how to build, use or modify a weapon. Every scene is hand-drawn in our doodle style, and the real weapons and people are shown in photographs.
