For details, please check the Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden website or X. 2025/7/26生まれのニホンザルのパンチくん。 2026/1/19から市川市動植物園のサル山で過ごすようになりました。 ママはいるはいるみたいだが初産ということと夏の暑さで育児放棄してしまいしまい… 一人では生きていけないパンチくんを飼育員の方で育ててましたが、ずっと人口で育ててもパンチくんのためにはならないってことで2026/1/19から市川市動植物園のサル山に放して経過を見てる状況。 入った当初は色々な先輩猿にいじめられながらも必死に耐えて、少しずつ成長していく姿にとても勇気を与えてくれました。 またパンチくんが持ってるオランウータンのぬいぐるみ(オランママ)ですが、ニホンザルは人間と同じで母親に育てられて大きくなるため、母がいないとストレスになるとのことでIKEAのオランウータンのぬいぐるみをパンチくんに与えたところ、抱くようになりました。 過去にも同じようにリラックマのぬいぐるみを与えたら抱いていたみたいです。 その猿(オトメちゃん)は1歳2ヶ月ぐらいでぬいぐるみを離して独り立ちしたみたいなので、パンチくんもあと数か月後にはオランママを離してしまうかもしれないです。 ちなみにオトメちゃんも同じ園内にいるとか！？ オランウータンのぬいぐるみを抱いてる姿が可愛く世界中に響いて大人気になりました。 皆さんで一緒にパンチくんを見守りましょう！ また2026年の春に赤ちゃん猿が沢山産まれたので今後の成長が気になります。 --------------------------------------------------- Punch-kun is a Japanese macaque born on July 26, 2025. He began living on the monkey mountain at the Ichikawa City Zoo on January 19, 2026. Although he has a mother, she abandoned him—likely due to the summer heat and the fact that it was her first time giving birth. Keepers initially raised Punch-kun because he could not survive on his own, but they decided that keeping him in human care indefinitely wouldn't be in his best interest; consequently, they released him onto the monkey mountain on January 19, 2026, to monitor his progress. When he first arrived, he was bullied by various older monkeys, but he endured it bravely, and watching him grow little by little has been truly inspiring. As for the orangutan plush toy Punch-kun carries (nicknamed "Oran-Mama"): Japanese macaques, like humans, grow up being raised by their mothers, and the lack of a mother figure can cause stress. When keepers gave him an IKEA orangutan plush toy, he began hugging it. It seems a similar thing happened in the past when a Rilakkuma plush toy was given to another monkey; that monkey (Otome-chan) let go of the toy and became independent at around 14 months old, so Punch-kun might also part ways with "Oran-Mama" in a few months. By the way, rumor has it that Otome-chan is also at the same zoo! The sight of him hugging the orangutan plush toy was so adorable that it captured hearts worldwide and made him a huge hit.
