Alexander Mercouris: Ukraine Is On The Brink of Collapse; The End of Western Supremacy

Is Ukraine on the brink of collapse, and can Trump, Putin or Europe still end the war? Alexander Mercouris of The Duran joins me for the first time to step back from the daily news and analyse the Russia-Ukraine war as a whole. Alexander explains why this war is unlike any Russia has fought before. It carries an element of civil war over the Soviet legacy, and it pits Russia against NATO and the entire West without a single great power ally. We discuss how the West provoked the war through NATO expansion and the death of the Minsk agreements, as well as how Biden’s plan to break up Russia differs from Trump’s hope of winning it as an ally. Europe, however, after the collapse of its left, is gripped by war fever amid deepening economic stress. As Ukraine’s resistance breaks down, Russia will have to decide whether to cross the Dnieper. Meanwhile, the West faces an ugly peace, with a conflict set to outlast the war. 00:00 Introduction 02:38 Where the Ukraine war stands today 04:34 Alexander Mercouris on the civil war element of the conflict 10:41 Two anti-imperialist perspectives 17:12 Exposing Western industrial decline 19:34 Iran, Vietnam and the limits of US power 21:46 Ukraine’s Nazi problem and Stalin’s borders 25:00 How the West provoked the war 32:48 Why Putin waited eight years 38:59 Trump’s misunderstanding of Russia 44:19 Europe’s war fever and the collapse of the left 46:59 Why the Abu Dhabi talks and the Trump-Xi-Putin summit will fail 50:39 An ugly peace Alexander Mercouris' personal channel: ‪@AlexMercouris‬ Alexander Mercouris' podcast The Duran: ‪@TheDuran‬ Radhika's speech at the Kyoto Symposium - Geopolitics In a Time of Monsters:    • The US Order Is FINISHED. But The REAL Bat...   Support me on Patreon ►   / radhikadesai   TikTok ►   / raddesai   X ► https://www.x.com/RadDesai Substack ► https://www.substack.com/@radicaldesai Website ► https://www.RadhikaDesai.com 🎧 Listen to the podcast: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1ptAXm3...
