90 Days Without Power: The Exact Costco Cart I'd Buy Today If You Live Alone
I was married thirty-eight years to a lineman, and after every big storm Ray told me the same thing: the folks really in trouble are the ones who ran out of water. He's been gone four years now, so I plan for one. This is the exact Costco cart I'd fill today if you live alone and the power goes out for ninety days: water three ways, the three cheap foods that cover more than half of it, what goes in the gaps, how to cook with no power, the medicine nobody plans for, and the three things everybody rushes to buy first that I'd never put in my cart.
Prices are about what my Costco charges and change by warehouse, so check your own store. Never run a camp stove, grill, heater or generator inside the house or in a closed garage, and put a battery carbon monoxide alarm in the cart. Ask your doctor and your pharmacist about your own medicine.
Tell me in the comments what town you're watching from.
