IKE — 池 | Zen Japanese Music for Reflection, Stillness & Water Contemplation
IKE (池) is the garden pond — a mirror of the sky, a vessel of stillness. In Zen, water is not an element; it is the mind itself. Calm on the surface, unfathomably deep beneath.
In this meditation, we sit beside a monk where the ancient temple meets its own reflection. The ike holds the temple, the trees, the clouds — and the silent practitioner — in perfect, accepting stillness. This music is an invitation to water contemplation (suimen no kansō) — to let the ripples of thought settle, until only clarity remains, and the boundary between observer and reflection dissolves.
