My Hardest Descent Yet | Shikoku Pilgrimage Day 42

Day 42 of walking Japan's Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. A foggy morning in the mountains leads to one of the toughest descents of the journey. Overgrown trails, fallen branches and running low on water make for a challenging start. Leaving the Dojo of Enlightenment and entering the Dojo of Nirvana feels like a turning point. Despite the exhaustion, there's a renewed sense of purpose and a feeling of becoming a pilgrim again. Along the way, I visit beautiful temples, discover the remarkable 400-year-old Zenigata Sand Sculpture and reflect on the gear that's carried me this far.
